I have been minister at Claremont Parish Church since September 2003. I am from Glasgow and have been a minister for over twenty years – I was at a church in Glasgow and then in Edinburgh before coming to Claremont. I see a psychiatrist every day (my wife) and have two daughters, both at Calderglen. I enjoy playing badminton and hillwalking, listening to music & going to gigs, reading & films, following sport especially Aberdeen FC (no sheep jokes, please, we have heard them all.

I was brought up in Balloch (Loch Lomond). On leaving school, I studied at Jordanhill College and then worked for ten years as a Primary School Teacher. During this time I studied for a degree in psychology with the Open University. In 1996, I went back to study divinity at Glasgow University, and was ordained a Church of Scotland minister in 2001, when I became the minister of East Kilbride Old Parish. In my spare time I enjoy relaxing with family and friends, and when I can find the time, I am a keen gym member.

I was ordained a permanent deacon for the Catholic Church in September 2011. I assist Fr Owen Ness at St Brides Church. I recently retired from a 35 year career in Social Work having worked in Glasgow for most of that time. For the last 10 years or so of my career I was involved in the training of social workers. I am married with one daughter and two granddaughters who live in the Bishopbriggs area of Glasgow. I enjoy walking in the Scottish hills and in the Lake District in the North of England along with my wife and close friends. I enjoy music and singing and have been part of choirs and drama groups over the years. I am currently learning to play the guitar (never too late to learn!).
